Weather/Terrain Inject Cards

How to Use

These cards modify environmental conditions. Apply during TLP Step 1 (for planning) or during execution (for dynamic weather changes). Update the weather section or provide as a weather update.

Card WT-01: Heavy Rain and Reduced Visibility

Apply During: TLP Step 1 or during execution

Inject Text: “Weather Update: Heavy thunderstorms have moved into the area. Visibility reduced to 100 meters. Terrain is becoming muddy, affecting vehicle movement. Plan for wet weather operations.”

Effect: Candidate must adjust movement plan, visibility considerations, and terrain analysis.

Card WT-02: Fog/Limited Visibility

Apply During: TLP Step 1 or during execution

Inject Text: “Weather Update: Dense fog has developed. Visibility reduced to 50 meters. Navigation and target identification will be difficult.”

Effect: Candidate must adjust movement techniques, navigation plan, and engagement criteria.

Card WT-03: Extreme Heat

Apply During: TLP Step 1

Inject Text: “Weather Update: Temperature has risen to 95°F with high humidity. Heat category is Black Flag. Plan for increased water consumption and heat casualty prevention.”

Effect: Candidate must adjust sustainment plan, water requirements, and rest plan.

Card WT-04: High Winds

Apply During: TLP Step 1 or during execution

Inject Text: “Weather Update: Sustained winds of 25-30 mph with gusts up to 40 mph. Affects helicopter operations, indirect fire accuracy, and movement of light equipment.”

Effect: Candidate must consider wind effects on fires, aviation, and equipment.

Card WT-05: Terrain Changes - Flooding

Apply During: TLP Step 1

Inject Text: “Terrain Update: Recent heavy rain has caused flooding. Primary approach route is now partially underwater. Alternate routes required. Low-lying areas are impassable.”

Effect: Candidate must adjust route selection and movement plan.

Card WT-06: Darkness/Limited Light

Apply During: TLP Step 1 (for day operations becoming night)

Inject Text: “Timeline Update: Mission execution will occur during limited visibility period (EENT/BMNT). Plan for night operations with limited natural light.”

Effect: Candidate must adjust for night operations, use of artificial light, and night movement techniques.

Card WT-07: Snow/Ice Conditions

Apply During: TLP Step 1 (if applicable to training area)

Inject Text: “Weather Update: Unexpected snow/ice conditions. Terrain is slippery, affecting movement. Visibility may be reduced. Plan for cold weather operations.”

Effect: Candidate must adjust movement plan, traction considerations, and cold weather procedures.

Card WT-08: Dust Storm/Sand

Apply During: TLP Step 1 or during execution

Inject Text: “Weather Update: Dust storm/sand conditions developing. Visibility reduced to 200 meters. Affects breathing, equipment function, and navigation.”

Effect: Candidate must adjust movement plan, equipment protection, and protective measures.

Card WT-09: Terrain Obstacles

Apply During: TLP Step 1

Inject Text: “Terrain Update: Recent enemy activity has created obstacles along primary route. Route may be mined or have obstacles emplaced. Alternate routes recommended.”

Effect: Candidate must adjust route selection and obstacle avoidance plan.

Card WT-10: Rapid Weather Change

Apply During: During execution

Inject Text: “Weather Update: Weather conditions have rapidly deteriorated. [Specify change: rain, fog, wind, etc.]. Adjust operations accordingly.”

Effect: Candidate must adapt plan to changing weather conditions during execution.
